Biography

I'm a writer and editor with 20 years of experience in medical publishing for both physician and lay audiences. After obtaining a BA from Trinity College in Hartford, CT, where I studied biology and art history, I worked for a few years as a laboratory tech at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston. I received a master's degree in public health from Yale University School of Medicine and have worked for several corporations. I've been working as a freelance writer/editor since 2003, and my work has appeared in Barron's, Ode, Real Simple, Fitness, eCompany Now, Sports Illustrated/Woman, and Business2.0. I work regularly for Medscape/WebMD, the Johns Hopkins White Papers, and John Wiley and Sons (CA-A Cancer Journal for Clinicians). I'm also the co-author with Peter D'Epiro of 2 books, What are the Seven Wonders of the World? And 100 Other Great Cultural Lists—Fully Explicated. New York: Anchor Books, 1998 and Sprezzatura: How Italian Genius Shaped the World. New York: Anchor Books, October 2001. I live with my husband, Peter Pinkowish, and our kids.
